Our Charge

In September 2022, the Dean of Arts and Sciences appointed Dan Cobb and Michael Lambert co-chairs with the authority to determine the composition and logistics of a Working Group on Global Indigeneity. The working group’s charge is to articulate a plan for building a curriculum that would place the American Indian and Indigenous Studies scholarly community at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on solid footing going forward into the future. To achieve this goal, the Working Group has been defining a vision for American Indian and Indigenous Studies in the College and creating a plan to achieve that vision. The Dean has committed to providing the Working Group with the support and resources necessary for the group to achieve their goals. The initial appointment of the members of the Working Group will be through the end of the 2023-2024 academic year.
